Dr. Yves Punie is a senior researcher at the European Commission Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (JRC IPTS), leading its research and policy activities on “ICT for Learning, Skills and Open Education”. His research covers four main interrelated research strands, across all educational sectors: Open Education and OER, Innovating Learning and Teaching, Key Competences and 21st century skills, and the Future of Learning.
More than 20 different studies have been undertaken on these issues with more than 50 different publications at the institute. All studies are aimed at supporting European policies on the modernisation and innovation of E&T (DG EAC) and development of key competences and qualifications (DG EMPL). Before joining the IPTS in 2001, Yves was an assistant professor at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) and senior researcher at SMIT (Studies on Media, Information and Telecommunications). He holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences.
